As my first box starts to arrive on your doorsteps I’ve included a range of materials to enable you to test out working with ink and how this favourite art material of mine works. Many of you know that my signature is blue which is why I have included both a blue and a black bottle of ink.
Both colours exhibit very different qualities and will continue to change as they dry. For your first drawings have a go at working with abstract forms. I work mostly in this way because I love how the ink can take over and completely transform an abstract piece into a beautiful finished piece of work.
I often have some test pieces of paper in my favourite papers, which you can collect over time. I use these to test new ways to spread the ink in my drawings, test how the paper absorbs the ink and once dry I sometimes analyse what adding water does to the tones as the ink dries.
To give you some more inspiration on drawing with ink I have put together this pin board.
